Geographical Situation

Ica Province, capital of Ica Department, has an extension of 7,894.25 km2 and is located 300 km of Lima, capital of Peru.


 

Touristic Attractions

International Festival of Vendimia

The vendimia is an activity whose origin comes from colonial time. This festivity is about the harvest of grapes from the countryside of Ica. The grape is carried to the press where through the treading the juice is extracted. (This technique is only used for this festivity, nowadays people is using modern techniques in order to extract this juice). Most activities are carried out at the fairground, the central day is the second Friday of March - this day is a holiday for the whole department of Ica.

During this week, you can drink the exquisite cachina, pisco (white grape brandy) and wine from several wine cellars in Ica Valley. Also, you can find quality shows with musical groups well-known at national and international level. The festival is closed with a marvelous parade on the last Sunday of that week.

Peruvian Paso Horses

Ica Department has always been known as the birthplace for the most pure race of Paso horses in Peruvian history.

The horses came from Spain, but the Peruvian Paso horse is genuine genetic achievement. The Peruvian coast's soil provokes its change: the trot for the Peruvian Paso. This way, a new tough elegant fasts and easy to ride horse.

Laguna de Huacachina (Lagoon of Huacachina)

Located 5kms south of Ica City, a famous natural attraction with healing properties. This oasis is surrounded by high dunes, palm trees and old huarangos.
